About University of Milan
The University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano, often called "La Statale") is a public research university established in 1924. Its historic headquarters is the Ca' Granda, a 15th-century former hospital in the city centre, and its faculties are spread across Milan, including a large science campus in the Città Studi district.
Unlike Milan's technical and private universities, the University of Milan is a general, multidisciplinary institution. It is particularly strong in medicine and health sciences, life sciences, pharmacology, agricultural and food sciences, law, political and social sciences, and the humanities. It is the only Italian member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU), a network of research-intensive European universities.
For international students, the university offers a number of English-taught Master's programmes and some Bachelor's programmes, in fields ranging from data science and economics to biology and international politics. Being in Milan gives access to Italy's largest business and industrial hub, with internships and career opportunities in finance, pharmaceuticals, food and media — though students should plan for Milan's comparatively high living costs.
